AUGUST
Falmouth week
6th - 15th August
With its origins as a local sailing regatta dating back at least as far as 1837, the week has evolved into not only a major sailing competition in the South West but also an opportunity for sailors and landlubbers to enjoy the many daytime and evening events in the town. There is so much to see and do throughout the week from family friendly activities on The Moor, various sailing races on the water from Sunday to Saturday, and exciting evening entertainment at Events Square.
Tall Ships Race
Starting 19th August
Mark your calendar as tall ships return to Falmouth waters from 19th August 2021 (with the ships arriving in Falmouth the week before). As Falmouth has been selected as the Race Start Partner for the Tall Ships Magellan-Elcano 500 Series 2021 race, there’ll be around 40 tall ships gathering for a maritime festival in 2021. It will be the sixth time Falmouth has hosted the tall ships since 1966. During this event, there will be the opportunity to take harbour boat trips to get close up views of the ships, which can be more than 100m (330ft) long. The event will see the introduction of water-based inner harbour tours to view the tall ships out in their ‘natural’ surroundings, offering a unique and unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
