There are some fantastic places to visit whilst staying in Falmouth, here a few we recommend to our guests at the Royal Duchy.

Explore Falmouth’s lovely beaches

Explore Falmouth’s lovely beaches

Two of Falmouth’s beautiful sandy beaches are within very easy walking distance of The Royal Duchy Hotel. Gyllyngvase Beach is a fantastic beach with stunning views and a wide arc of clean, golden sand. Castle Beach is ideal for rockpooling and has sweeping views across Falmouth Bay and towards Pendennis Castle.

Praa Sands, between Helston and Penzance, and Kennack Sands on the Lizard peninsula both offer some good beach breakers for surfers, while the challenging conditions at Porthleven, near Penzance, put it on every experienced surfer’s must-see list.

The Falmouth area has great conditions for water sports, including sailings, kayaking and surfing. Big Blue Watersports on the Lizard offer lessons in windsurfing and kayaking for all age groups and abilities.
