Valentine’s By The Coast

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, people everywhere will be starting to plan how best to treat their loved one on one of the most romantic days of the year.

Whether you live locally or travel from further afield, there are plenty of things to do in and around Falmouth to create lasting romantic memories.

Here are some of our favourites...

Enjoy a picnic on the beach

Pack the champagne, cream teas and sandwiches (or pasties) and head out to explore beautiful scenery right on our doorstep. At this time of year, you can be sure you’ll have plenty of spots to choose from, allowing you to enjoy the stunning views and peaceful sounds of the sea as you tuck into your chosen treats. Snuggle up in a blanket and watch the world go by. Stroll along the water’s edge close to our hotel, take in the with beautiful views over the coastline across 4 local beaches. Breathe the sea air, feel the salty spray of the waves crashing onto the rocks and be sure to dip your toe in the sea and watch the ever-changing tides before heading back to luxury and be pampered within our Retreat.

Get closer on a tandem bike ride by the coast

Test your relationship and hopefully have a laugh when you hire a tandem bike and cycle together along the Camel Trail, from Padstow to Wadebridge. The 5-mile route is largely traffic-free and flat, running alongside the Camel Estuary with far-reaching views of the surrounding countryside and waterways.

Take a private boat trip

Why not hire your own boat for half a day and take a trip along the River Fal, exploring the many beautiful locations along the route as you go? Whether you pack a picnic to enjoy on-board, or choose to head to Mylor Harbour for a Cornish bite after a walk along the river, it’s the perfect way to enjoy some quality time together whilst feeling a million miles away from everyday life.

Visit Pendennis Castle and enjoy the views

A historic landmark, Pendennis Castle is a fascinating place to visit. Commanding an impressive position, head up to the roof and enjoy 360-degree panoramic views over the town of Falmouth, the River Fal, the Carrick Roads estuary and even far out into the Atlantic. The perfect spot for a little romantic reflection. Then take a scenic stroll back down to our hotel and indulge in a scrumptious Valentines Dinner especially prepared by our Head Chef John.

Take a long walk along the coast path

What could be more romantic than a stroll through Cornwall’s beautiful literary landscapes? Follow in the footsteps of Thomas Hardy on the north coast near Boscastle, the inspiration for his novel ‘A pair of blue eyes’, or take in Daphne Du Maurier’s south coast around Fowey, the setting for some of her most broodingly romantic novels. Here are some of the best romantic walks from our friends at the South West Coast Path. All are available to download, for you to explore.
